Job Retention Scheme - update 25th March
KPMG Covid-19 briefing 9am - 10am 25th March
Short update - more to follow.....
Furlough is for a max of 3 months
It is possible to refuse furlough but standard contract will then apply (Inc redundancy) but support should be given
Expectation that furlough can be cancelled at short notice for return to work
Employee will return to same contract but from pragmatic point of view, there may need to tweak contract
Cannot rotate employees (2 weeks on / off) - May be subject to change
The 80% is on gross actual salary
Salary review period for purpose of calculation may be standard month but could be extended for casual workers
NIC etc would still need to be taken
Workers must be furloughed and cannot work:
- Part-time
- X days out of y
- Any other work
- Voluntary may be excluded (tbc)
Collective agreements or employment contracts still apply though, though timescales may be reduced
Discrimination rules apply, so be aware that rules have not changed
SSP will apply from day 1 and will include those caring for sick family members
Self certification form not required, to reduce pressure on NHS
Companies with under 250 employees can reclaim SSP
