PropList at MIPIM 2019
March marks the annual property pilgrimage to Cannes, where the great and the good assemble to discuss the worldwide issues in the industry. A place where you can network with CEOs of some of the world’s biggest companies, and take inspiration from the countless exhibitors who attend. PropList’s CEO, general manager and head of business development will be jet-setting to the south of France next week – here’s what each of them will be getting up to at MIPIM 2019.
Richard Howells, CEO:
At this year’s MIPIM I’ll be meeting with agents and owners to discuss how we can support them with our industry-leading technology. Naturally, I will also be seeking out other examples of good tech from across the global property community. I’m a firm believer that technology only works for your business if it is specific to your needs, and isn’t forced to fit.
A key session in the calendar is Tuesday’s Tech as a Driver of Growth, discussing how large data-centric innovations can unlock property values. My background, and a large part of my day at PropList is made up of data analysis, and I’m looking forward to hearing what Aaron Block from MetaProp NYC thinks of the opportunities that lie ahead.
I’ll also be making my way to Workplace Technology: Improving the Experience. New technologies are impacting each and every profession, but this session will really highlight how property companies can benefit. Whilst a lot of the speakers at this event represent huge firms both in the UK and US, looking at their systems and incorporating them at PropList could be revolutionary.
Reiss Carr, general manager:
I’m looking forward to catching up with a variety of suppliers, current and potential clients, as well as gaining insight from some of the most successful property companies in the world. I’m particularly interested in looking out for new, innovative start-ups and taking inspiration from the conference programme and exhibitors.
A key highlight for me will be Reed MIDEM’s Prop Tech Lab on Thursday. If you’re making the journey over to Cannes, securing a ticket to this event is a must for those interested in this area of the industry. The event will act as a peer-to-peer conversational opportunity, and I intend to see how others from across the globe are upgrading their systems to support business growth. I’m also looking forward to sharing with others how we’re continuing to develop our technology at PropList to offer a market-leading solution.
Sam Empson, head of business development
I’ll be joining the Coventry and Warwickshire delegation on Wednesday to take part in their panel session, How Tech is Shaping Commercial Property. Many property companies have not embraced new technology, and continue to do things they way they’ve always been done – so I’m keen to highlight that real and meaningful advancements can be made by integrating good tech into business.
I’ll also be taking the opportunity to discuss our brand new event, PropBike, to industry contacts. It’s a completely fresh approach to networking and we can’t wait to bring something unique to the property calendar.
There are few better platforms in the property world to network than MIPIM. The harbour is the perfect backdrop for mixers and events, and the whole feeling of being in Cannes makes everyone more relaxed and open to discussion.
Away from the conference halls you’ll find some of the more informal opportunities – the beach and the harbour are the places to head if it’s your first time at MIPIM, there’s always someone to talk to and plenty to learn, even as the sun sets.
