PropList Blog
Commercial property portal, PropList, is set to host a one of a kind networking event this September, inviting members of the commercial property industry to join them for a mountain biking day to remember.
Nick Pole, Marketing Manager, talks us through the origins of BikePark Wales, and why PropBike could prove to be the most unique property event of 2019.
“If you’re reading this, you may already be aware that we are letting PropList take over BikePark Wales on 19th September for a day of thrills, and adventure – it’ll be the first time anyone has ever had exclusive use of the park!
“We’re excited – it’s an amazing opportunity to welcome property professionals and get them out of the office and experience something they won’t find anywhere else in the UK – miles of carefully sculpted trails set within picturesque Welsh countryside with a huge variety to suit everyone, whether they’re biking enthusiasts or not.
“BikePark Wales was ‘built by riders for riders’, and took us five years to create – we celebrate our sixth birthday this year – and it’s fair to say, it was worth the wait. Founded by Martin Astley and Rowan Sorrell, we have created a hugely varied network of trails which include; swooping, bermed runs, tight gnarly rock sections, jump trails, drop offs, a pump track and a family friendly loop.
“BikePark Wales is set around Myndd Gethin Mountain in Merthyr Tydfill, where we offer guests the option of getting a lift in one of our mini buses which will transport riders 491m up to the top of the mountain, or riding up a single track climb to get to the top – the current record is 15 pedal powered laps, if you’re feeling energetic!
“From there, riders can acess all of our more challenging trails, which are colour coded according to ability (from green for beginners to black and yellow for pro riders). Each visitor is given an indexed trail map and there is signage at the start of each trail to help steer riders onto the correct trail.
“Each of our trails are individually named and many give riders clues as to the level of difficulty a rider can expect. For instance, the mildest trail is called ‘Badgers Run’ and is colour coded green, while our black (expert) runs have names such as ‘Dai Hard’ and ‘Rock n Roll’.
“One of the most important things about BikePark Wales is that we have a professional trail crew on site at all times, not just to work on building new trails but also to ensure that the park is well maintained and as safe as possible for riders.
“For riders who want to improve their skills, BikePark Wales is the place to come. We offer expert coaching sessions throughtout the year where you can watch videos of yourself in action, to help work out where you need to improve.
“We pride ourself on having a laid back vibe off-trail, where we cater for all visitors’ needs. We have a well-stocked bike shop selling everything and anything bike related, as well as, a good selection of bikes and safety equipment for hire. Our Woodland Café has amazing views over the Brecon Beacons and theres a menu full of locally sourced food – I personally recommend the Dragon Burger if you’re a spice lover.
“We are really looking forward to being the host venue of the very first PropBike event on 19th September, and we can guarantee it will be a day to remember for everyone who attends.
Places for the free-to-attend day and night event are limited to 150, and those who would like to attend can register their interest at www.propbike.co.uk and follow the event on social media via @PropBike.
